The Recording Academy has responded after Ariana Grande fans called out the GRAMMYs over what they described as repeated snubs of the pop star while still using her image in a campaign against AI.

The backlash began when fans questioned why Grande was featured in promotional material despite frustration over her awards recognition. In response to one fan on social media, the Academy explained how nominations are decided.

“Every GRAMMY nomination is determined by peer review. That means fellow musicians, producers, songwriters, and other music industry professionals who are Academy members cast the votes,” the organization wrote.
