FAISALABAD: Hundreds of villagers have staged a demonstration in various parts of the district against inflated electricity bills issued by the Faisalabad electric supply company (Fesco). Major demonstrations were staged on Faisalabad-Sargodha Road, Samundari Road, Samanabad and other parts of the district. Protesters brandished sticks, clubs and rods and stopped traffic on Jaranwala-Faisalabad Road while chanting slogans against Fesco. “The recent bills have been manipulated and Fesco officials have added additional units without any justification,” protesters said. On receiving information, a heavy police contingent headed by SHO Sadar Faisalabad rushed to the spot and managed to disperse the crowd after a baton charge.
