Stephanie Elam is set to exit CNN after more than two decades of service across two separate tenures, marking the end of a long-standing career with the network.

Elam, who most recently served as a Los Angeles-based correspondent, confirmed her departure through a social media statement. Reflecting on her time at CNN, she highlighted her extensive experience covering a wide range of topics, including environmental issues, business developments, entertainment news, and major breaking stories.

“For more than 20 years I’ve been in the CNN orbit developing and delivering news stories,” Elam stated, adding that documenting major events throughout her career had been a “gift.” Despite announcing her exit, she did not disclose details about her next professional move.

Elam’s career with CNN included two significant periods, initially working as a business news correspondent based in New York from 2003 to 2011. During that time, she contributed to CNN, HLN, and CNN International, covering key events such as market downturns and the death of Michael Jackson. She later rejoined the network in 2013.

In her second tenure, Elam reported on major national and international stories, including the eruption of Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano and the death of Prince.

In a statement, CNN praised Elam for her credibility, versatility, and ability to connect with audiences, describing her as a trusted voice within the organization.

Elam began her journalism career at Dow Jones Newswires and went on to work with several media outlets, building a reputation in broadcast journalism. She holds a degree in broadcast journalism from Howard University.

Her departure marks a notable change within CNN’s roster of experienced correspondents.
