Centrepoint has confirmed it will end its association with Sharon Osbourne after she expressed support for a rally organised by Tommy Robinson in London.
The homelessness charity, which counts the Prince of Wales as its patron, said it was distancing itself from Osbourne following comments made on social media.
Osbourne indicated she planned to attend the “unite the kingdom” march after commenting, “See you at the march” on an Instagram post promoting the event.
In response, Centrepoint said the rally did not reflect its principles. The organisation stated, “This sort of event does not align with our values.”
It added that it remains committed to supporting young people from all backgrounds, regardless of ethnicity or religion, and aims to ensure they can live without fear while accessing education and employment opportunities.
Centrepoint clarified that Osbourne’s involvement with the charity had been limited to a specific fundraising initiative. She had supported an Omaze campaign offering entries into a prize draw for a property overlooking Lake Windermere and a cash prize.
The charity noted that she was described as an ambassador in line with standard practice for such campaigns, but was not a long-term representative.
The organisation said it had no plans to work with Osbourne in the future.
The rally in question is being organised by Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.
Previous events under the same banner have drawn large crowds, with last September’s march reported to have attracted more than 100,000 attendees.
Robinson has publicly welcomed Osbourne’s support for the upcoming demonstration, scheduled to take place on May 16.
