Classic JRPG, Wild Arms 4, PS4 and PS5 release confirmed for April

Wild Arms 4 arrives on PS4 and PS5 via PS Plus Premium with classic gameplay from 2005

Wild Arms 4 is set to return on modern PlayStation platforms, with a release confirmed for PS4 and PS5 as part of the April 2026 PlayStation Plus game catalogue update.

The classic JRPG, originally launched in 2005 on PlayStation 2, will be available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers from April 21.

The re-release forms part of Sony’s Classics catalogue expansion, which is included alongside other titles in the April update, such as The Crew Motorfest and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

The addition brings a lesser-known but distinctive role-playing game back into circulation for newer audiences and returning players.

Wild Arms 4 is recognised for its hexagonal grid-based battle system, which differed from more traditional turn-based mechanics seen in earlier entries in the series.

The gameplay system combined strategic positioning with movement-based combat, offering a variation that appealed to players interested in tactical elements.

At launch, the game received attention for its mechanics, although reports noted that technical issues and narrative pacing affected its overall reception. Despite this, it maintained a following among genre fans.

The updated version includes several quality-of-life improvements designed for modern hardware. These enhancements include up-rendering, rewind functionality, quick save options, and custom video filters.

The official description states, “Their meeting was fate. Filgaia, a world left in ruins by a brutal war, stands still. Ten years have passed since peace was won — yet true healing has never come. Now, on these scarred lands, a new journey begins.”

Wild Arms 4 is considered a relatively concise role-playing experience, with an estimated completion time of around 30 hours.
