Cher files second conservatorship request over son Elijah Blue Allman finances
Cher has filed a second request for conservatorship over her son Elijah Blue Allman, citing concerns over his mental health, financial situation and recent legal issues.
Court documents submitted in Los Angeles County state that the singer is seeking emergency control over Allman’s finances following a series of incidents in New Hampshire.
Allman, 49, the son of Cher and musician Gregg Allman, is currently in a psychiatric hospital after two recent arrests.
“Elijah’s situation has become dire on multiple fronts. His mental health has severely deteriorated, his financial situation is terrible, and his drug dependency is at its worst,” the filing states.
The request follows a previous attempt by Cher in December 2023 to gain control of her son’s finances, which was later resolved privately in September 2024. At the time, Allman had agreed to appoint a business manager, which Cher now claims did not occur.
According to the new filing, Allman has been “living wildly beyond his means,” staying in hotels and short-term rentals and allegedly causing significant damage to a property. The documents also state he has accumulated unpaid debts, including a tax bill exceeding $200,000.
Allman was arrested on February 27 in Concord, New Hampshire, on suspicion of trespassing, criminal threats and assault. Authorities allege he later faced another arrest in Windham following a reported break-in, where officers found him inside a residence.
The filing notes that Allman receives $120,000 monthly from a trust established by his father, which is “immediately squandered without regard for his liabilities or well-being.”
Cher alleges, “After he receives his trust distribution, he checks into a hotel… buys and does drugs until he runs out of money.”
Cher is requesting that a court-appointed fiduciary manage the funds. A hearing is expected as the case proceeds.
