Maren Morris is speaking candidly about a difficult personal experience, revealing that her first relationship with a woman turned toxic within weeks.

The singer shared details in a TikTok video, explaining that her “bisexual journey” has been “pretty short.”

Morris, who came out as bisexual in 2024 following her divorce from Ryan Hurd, said she was upfront about wanting something casual when she began seeing the woman. However, the situation quickly deteriorated.

“Within three weeks of this completely falling apart, it was lies, threats to my reputation, and borderline extortion,” she said, adding, “It was pretty f—ed up.”

The experience left her feeling disheartened, with Morris admitting it made her reconsider dating altogether. “For that to be my first experience… it was just so depressing,” she shared, adding that she now feels she is “really cool being alone.”

Despite the negative experience, Morris said she sought advice from friends in the LGBTQ+ community, who told her that such situations can happen and encouraged her to move forward.

The singer, who shares a son with Hurd, has been open about her journey post-divorce and has continued to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights while navigating her personal life publicly.

Her candid comments offer insight into the challenges she has faced while exploring relationships after coming out, highlighting both the vulnerability and complexities of dating.
