The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi on Saturday issued a revised schedule for the postponed annual matriculation examinations.

According to a notification, the exams were earlier deferred due to the US-Iran talks. Under the new schedule, the Urdu paper would now be held on May 2 in the morning shift, followed by the Geography paper in the second shift.

Board spokesperson Arslan Cheema said that examination timings and centres would remain unchanged, and students were advised to appear as per their original roll number slips.

The board postponed matriculation examinations in Rawalpindi city at 64 centres, while exams in the rest of the division continued as scheduled. Cheema said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure in light of the prevailing situation at the time due to the Islamabad Talks, with authorities opting to avoid any potential disruption to the examination process.

Last week, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rawalpindi also announced a two-day public holiday on April 9 and 10, with all educational institutions and government offices remaining closed in line with measures taken in Islamabad, as a delegation from the US and Iran was arriving in Islamabad.
