Saving Lives: CM announces Rs2.1b relief package

Around 80 million people have been affected while 382 have lost their lives.

KARACHI: A relief package worth Rs21 billion was announced by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at on Sunday. “Out of the 23 districts in Sindh, 13 have been affected very badly by the floods this year, he said. “Around 80 million people have been affected while 382 have lost their lives. More deaths have occurred from diseases than the natural disaster.”  He added that the government would distribute Rs21 billion among the people through the Pakistan Card. The Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh Council met with the Chief Minister to review the relief and rehabilitation measure taken for the flood affected people in the province. They suggested that the process of getting citizens to sign up should be extended by a month because of the floods.
