What just happened to singer D4vd in the Celeste Rivas case?

US singer D4vd has been arrested in connection with the death of a teenage girl who went missing last year, according to police.

The TikTok star, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was taken into custody on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez after a grand jury investigation into the case.

Authorities said the 21-year-old is being held without bail, with the case expected to be presented to prosecutors next week.

The arrest marks a major development in a case that has drawn widespread attention since September 2025, when the girl’s remains were found inside a Tesla linked to Burke.

Police said investigators discovered decomposed remains in the front trunk of the vehicle after receiving reports of a foul odor at a Hollywood tow yard. Officials later said the body had likely been there for several weeks.

No official cause of death has been publicly announced, and authorities had previously described the matter only as a death investigation.

Celeste had originally been reported missing by her family in April 2024 from their Lake Elsinore home. Reports said it was not the first time she had run away.

The case sparked intense online speculation over any possible connection between the girl and the singer, especially after court filings revealed Burke had become the target of a murder investigation.

Following the discovery, D4vd canceled his world tour and largely stepped away from public life. He was also reportedly dropped from brand partnerships, while collaborators distanced themselves from him.

Representatives for the singer had previously said he was cooperating with investigators.
