MQM accuses Rangers of injustice

Committee appeals to SC to take suo motu notice against release of Baloch.

KARACHI:

The Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) coordination committee has strongly condemned the conditional release of Zafar Baloch shortly after he was arrested.

In a joint statement, Muhammed Anwar, Tariq Mir, Saleem Shahzad, Anis Advocate, Asif Siddiqui, Mustafa Azizabadi, Muhammed Ashfaq and Qasim Ali Raza said that, with Baloch’s release, the entire targeted operation against criminals has lost all credibility. The outraged committee called the affair ‘unjust’ as they hold Baloch responsible for the deaths of many Mohajirs and find his quick release very dodgy.

They even went on to bring Zulfiqar Mirza into the fray, claiming that Baloch is a close aide of Mirza’s and his alleged acts of violence are at the behest of Mirza.

The committee has appealed to the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice against the release of Baloch and to human rights organisations, columnists, analysts and journalists to take notice of what in their eyes is an atrocity.
