The Elder Scrolls 6 future questioned after Bethesda Starfield update backlash

The future of The Elder Scrolls VI has come under renewed scrutiny following criticism directed at Bethesda after the latest Starfield update and its PlayStation 5 release.

The long-awaited RPG sequel remains in development, with its only official reveal being a brief teaser shown in 2018.

Starfield, which launched as Bethesda’s most recent major release, has divided players since its debut.

While some have described it as a solid experience, others within The Elder Scrolls community have expressed disappointment, stating they preferred the studio’s earlier focus on established franchises.

Attention has now shifted again following the release of Starfield’s Free Lanes update and Terran Armada DLC across all platforms, alongside the PS5 port.

Reports from players have highlighted technical issues, including bugs, glitches, and crashes, while the DLC has also faced criticism over its perceived limited new content.

One user, TheChowderhead, wrote in response to the DLC: “I have now finished the new Starfield DLC. I have learned I cannot purchase The Elder Scrolls VI. I cannot trust this company to make a game that makes me want to play it. I cannot trust the company that made Oblivion to make an RPG. I am, frankly, appalled with what I played.”

The same user also described the DLC’s content as limited in scope, while other players echoed similar concerns about the direction of Bethesda’s recent releases.

Another user, cachorrinho, commented that “the best Elder Scrolls content is literally Tamriel Rebuilt (mod) for Morrowind,” adding that “the games only live on through the community.”

Bethesda has not issued a direct response to the recent criticism regarding Starfield’s updates or the concerns raised about The Elder Scrolls VI.
