‘That was brutal’ Clavicular speaks out after hospitalisation in Miami
Controversial internet personality Braden Peters, widely known online as Clavicular, has spoken publicly after being hospitalised following a suspected overdose that reportedly occurred during a livestream in Miami.
The influencer, who has built a large following around so called ‘looksmaxxing’ content and discussions about self improvement and appearance, was reportedly behaving unusually while broadcasting online before the stream abruptly ended. Emergency responders were later called to the scene after reports of a 20 year old man suffering a possible overdose.
Miami Fire Rescue confirmed to local media that crews responded to a call involving a suspected overdose on the evening of April 14. Peters was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment. Details about the exact substances involved have not been publicly confirmed.
The following day Peters returned to social media and posted a photograph of himself alongside a brief message describing the experience. The image appeared to show marks and smears of blood on his face. In the caption he wrote, “Just got home, that was brutal.”
In the same message Peters reflected on the pressures he feels in public settings, suggesting that substance use had been an attempt to cope. He wrote that substances were used as a way to try to feel neurotypical while interacting in public, adding that the approach clearly was not a real solution.
He also described a moment during treatment that he found particularly distressing, writing that the worst part of the night was feeling his face descending from a life support mask.
The hospitalisation came only days after Peters generated headlines for abruptly leaving an interview with the programme 60 Minutes Australia. During the recorded segment journalist Adam Hegarty questioned him about his views on relationships and whether he identified with the so called incel community.
Peters reacted strongly to the line of questioning. After being asked directly if he identified with the label he criticised the sequence of questions and described it as the worst set of questions he had heard in an interview. He then walked out before the conversation could continue.
During the interview Hegarty also raised Peters’s past associations with controversial online figures including Andrew Tate. Tate is currently facing charges of rape, assault and human trafficking in the United Kingdom, allegations he denies.
Peters has repeatedly rejected the incel label and instead describes looksmaxxing culture as a form of personal development focused on improving confidence, appearance and lifestyle.
Despite the controversy surrounding his content, Peters maintains a large digital audience and frequently livestreams to viewers across multiple platforms. His brief message after leaving hospital has already generated significant discussion online, with supporters expressing relief that he appears to be recovering following the frightening incident.
