Britney Spears’ ex Kevin Federline reacts after singer enters rehab following DUI arrest
Britney Spears entered treatment weeks after a DUI arrest, with her former husband Kevin Federline voicing support

Britney Spears has voluntarily entered a treatment facility weeks after a March arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, prompting a public response from her former husband Kevin Federline.
The pop singer checked herself into rehab on April 12, 2026, according to a representative who confirmed the decision to several outlets. The move came five weeks after Spears was arrested on March 4 in Ventura County, California on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Authorities released her from custody the following day.
Shortly after news of the treatment programme became public, Federline responded through his longtime attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan. In a statement shared with media on April 13, Kaplan said the former dancer and DJ supported Spears’ decision to seek help.
“He is aware of the reports that she has checked into rehab,” Kaplan said in the statement. “He is happy that she is getting help and that the decision appears to be one that she made and not one imposed upon her by others.”
Kaplan also stressed that the priority should be Spears following whatever treatment plan medical professionals recommend.
“The key is that whatever the recommended treatment plan is that she follows it and completes it,” he added.
Spears’ team had already acknowledged the seriousness of the situation following the arrest. After the singer was released on March 5, her representative described the incident as an unfortunate event and said she intended to take steps to address it.
According to the statement at the time, Spears planned to comply with legal requirements and seek support moving forward. The representative expressed hope that the situation could serve as a turning point in the singer’s life.
Federline had also reacted shortly after the arrest in early March. Kaplan previously said that Federline hoped Spears would accept help if it was needed and would cooperate with those trying to support her.
Federline and Spears share two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. The former couple married in 2004 before filing for divorce in 2006. Despite their complicated history, the pair have periodically addressed family matters publicly through representatives.
Spears rose to global fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s with chart topping albums such as ...Baby One More Time and Oops!... I Did It Again. Over the years, her personal life has often drawn intense public scrutiny alongside her music career.
Her latest decision to enter treatment appears to be a voluntary step following the legal incident in March. Supporters close to the singer have expressed hope that the rehabilitation programme will provide the space and assistance needed for recovery.
Spears has not personally commented publicly since entering the facility, though representatives say she is focusing on the treatment process.
