Jon-Jon Smuts powered the Warriors to an imposing total of 171 which proved beyond the reach of South Australia in the teams’ Champions League Twenty20 encounter. Smuts stroked 88 runs off 65 balls to lay a strong foundation, followed by a disciplined performance by the bowlers. The Warriors eventually won by 50 runs. Meanwhile, in an earlier fixture, Lasith Malinga smashed 37 runs off 18 balls to secure a dramatic victory for the Mumbai Indians, who successfully chased down the target of 159 set by the Chennai Super Kings.
