Katy Perry is firmly denying allegations made by Ruby Rose, who accused the pop star of sexual assault in a social media post.
In a statement issued to Variety, a representative for Perry said the claims are “categorically false” and described them as “dangerous reckless lies.” The statement also alleged that Rose has a history of making serious accusations online that have been denied by those involved.
The response comes after Rose took to Threads to claim that Perry sexually assaulted her at a nightclub in Melbourne when she was in her early twenties. Rose went on to share graphic details of the alleged incident and said it had taken her nearly two decades to speak publicly about it.
Perry has not personally addressed the accusation, but her representative’s statement marks a clear and direct denial. As of now, Rose has not filed a formal report and has said she is not interested in pursuing legal action.
The allegation surfaced unexpectedly in response to a social media post about Perry’s reaction to a performance by Justin Bieber at Coachella, quickly drawing widespread attention online.
