Britney Spears has voluntarily entered a treatment facility five weeks after her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol in Ventura, California.

A representative for the singer confirmed on April 12 that Spears, 44, checked herself into the facility as part of ongoing efforts following the incident on March 4.

She was released the day after her arrest. At the time, her representative described the situation as an “unfortunate incident” and “completely inexcusable.”

“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” the statement read.

The representative also noted that her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, will be spending time with her as part of family support arrangements.

The development follows ongoing public attention surrounding Spears’ personal life after the end of her conservatorship in 2021.

Her former husband Kevin Federline previously expressed concerns in his memoir You Thought You Knew, stating, “It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour.”

In response, Spears’ representative stated that her children and their “well-being during this sensationalism” remain her priority.

Spears has previously discussed her mental health journey, including her experiences during her conservatorship and the need for continued healing. In earlier remarks, she said she had been on the “right medication” and acknowledged she “still needs lots of healing.”

No further details about her treatment programme have been disclosed.
