Ashlee Jenae death in Tanzania under investigation as family seeks answers
The death of influencer Ashly Robinson, known online as Ashlee Jenae, is under investigation after she was found unresponsive at a resort in Tanzania, according to statements from her family.
The 31-year-old, who was based in Miami, had travelled to Zanzibar to celebrate her birthday on April 5. During the trip, her fiancé Joe McCann proposed to her during a safari, an event described by her family as memorable. Robinson was staying at the Zuri Zanzibar resort when she reportedly fell ill.
She was discovered unconscious in her room and taken to a nearby medical facility, where she was pronounced dead several hours after admission. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the cause of death.
In a joint statement shared by the Robinson and Endres families, they confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and that they are working with local authorities.
“One moment she was celebrating love and life in truly Ashly fashion, and the next, she was gone,” the statement read. “The suddenness, the unanswered questions, and the distance from home have made this tragedy even more overwhelming for our family.”
The family also urged caution regarding information circulating online, stating that any updates not issued directly by them should be treated as unreliable.
A separate message shared by a friend, Savannah Britt, highlighted concerns about the lack of official communication surrounding the case.
“I find it very alarming that an American woman died abroad days ago and prior to my initial tweet nothing had been said from our State Department, Tanzanian government, or local media,” she wrote.
Officials from the United States and Tanzania have not released public statements regarding the incident. The investigation into Robinson’s death remains ongoing.
