A frightening incident unfolded at Coachella after a large lighting fixture fell into the crowd during a live performance, leaving at least one woman injured.

The incident occurred during a surprise DJ set at one of the festival’s stages, when a heavy piece of lighting equipment suddenly dropped from above and struck a woman standing a few rows from the front. Witnesses said the impact caused a serious head injury, with one describing how it “gashed her head open” and left visible blood at the scene.

Concertgoers nearby quickly stepped in to help, lifting the injured woman out of the crowd and rushing her to receive medical attention. The area was soon cleared, and the stage was shut down, with some performances cancelled or cut short following the incident.
