Addison Rae files copyright claim against Department of Homeland Security over “Diet Pepsi” use in ICE video
Addison Rae has filed a copyright claim against the Department of Homeland Security after her 2024 single Diet Pepsi was used without permission in a recruitment video for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The now-disabled post featured a montage of ICE agents set to the track, alongside a caption promoting recruitment.
Following the claim, the video’s media was taken down, replaced with a notice stating it had been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner. Released in August 2024 via Columbia Records, “Diet Pepsi” marked Rae’s breakout into pop music as the lead single from her debut album Addison, blending synth-pop sounds with themes of youth and romance.
The video sparked confusion and criticism online, with some questioning the tone and messaging of the campaign. The DHS has not publicly responded to the claim, and representatives for Rae have yet to comment further.
