Sindh govt, college teachers agree on education reforms
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah held a detailed meeting with a delegation of the Sindh Lecturers and Professors Association (SPLA) to discuss issues faced by college teachers and various points of their charter of demands.
The discussion also covered promotion mechanisms, particularly for grades 17 and above, with proposals to simplify and make the process more efficient. The minister reiterated that he stood by his earlier parliamentary remarks on promotion reforms and said progress would be made in consultation with teachers.
On infrastructure and facilities, he said schemes for the provision of furniture and laboratory equipment were being implemented and details would soon be shared with the association. He added that efforts were underway to modernise computer labs, upgrade existing facilities, and introduce new equipment.
It was also decided that procurement of books for the four-year BS programme could be carried out at the college level through existing budgets, and relevant instructions would be issued to ensure timely availability of academic resources.
