Drew Barrymore became emotional while discussing body image and motherhood during the April 6 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. The actress and television host spoke candidly about her own insecurities following two Caesarean sections while responding to a viewer during a segment titled "Scared to Wear".

The discussion arose when a viewer named Dawn appeared on the programme to receive a makeover after struggling with self image following significant weight loss. While speaking to the guest, Barrymore shared that she strongly related to the feelings of insecurity that can follow major physical changes.

During the segment, Barrymore tearfully explained that her body has changed after welcoming her daughters Olive and Frankie. She told the viewer that childbirth had left her feeling physically different and at times uncomfortable in certain clothing.

“The other day I was walking down the street, and I’ve had two C Sections, and I’m so wrecked down there,” Barrymore said while becoming emotional. She explained that there are certain types of trousers she finds difficult to wear because of how her body changed after the surgeries.

Barrymore continued by describing a recent moment when she felt self conscious about her appearance. She recalled wearing a shorter shirt and struggling to keep her jacket closed, adding that she felt nervous about people seeing her midsection.

“And I so get when you have kids and you have a busy life and your body changes and you get older and things just are not the same,” she said while encouraging the viewer to feel confident in her new look.

The actress shares her daughters Olive, 13, and Frankie, 11, with former husband Will Kopelman. The couple married in 2012 before separating in 2016. They have continued to co parent their children while maintaining a supportive family environment.

Barrymore is known for addressing personal topics openly on her daytime programme. In recent episodes she has spoken about menopause symptoms, ageing and the physical realities of motherhood. During a March broadcast she joked that hormonal changes left her feeling bloated and emotionally overwhelmed as she approached menopause.

The actress previously revealed that she experienced her first hot flash during a 2023 episode of the show while speaking with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, turning the moment into a lighthearted conversation about ageing.

Barrymore’s willingness to discuss deeply personal experiences has become a defining aspect of her talk show. By sharing her own struggles with body image and motherhood, she frequently aims to create conversations that resonate with viewers navigating similar life changes.
