Two days of continuous rainfall have led to a surge in demand and sales of umbrellas and raincoats across the city.
At the same time, the wet weather has boosted the consumption of snacks and hot beverages, with samosas, pakora, chips and tea in high demand in markets, offices and workplaces.
Vendors set up stalls and handcarts across bazaars, while tea and refreshment breaks became increasingly frequent in both public and private offices, as well as in schools and colleges.
The heightened demand has also driven up prices. Samosas were sold at Rs70 each, chicken samosa at Rs80, pakora at Rs650 per kilogram, chips at Rs100 per plate, and tea at Rs100 per cup, with a half cup priced at Rs80.
Umbrella prices also varied widely, with small umbrellas selling for around Rs500, better-quality ones at Rs750, and premium varieties ranging between Rs1,800 and Rs2,000.
Colourful children's umbrellas were priced between Rs250 and Rs350, while larger folding umbrellas were available for Rs400 to Rs500.
