Zendaya has once again proven she is one of Hollywood’s most inventive red carpet dressers, transforming the promotional tour for The Drama into a carefully curated fashion narrative inspired by the traditional bridal rhyme ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’.
The actress, who stars in the romantic drama alongside Robert Pattinson, worked closely with her longtime stylist Law Roach to craft the theme across multiple premieres. The pair leaned into method dressing, a promotional style approach where outfits reflect the themes of the film being promoted.
Zendaya explained the concept while speaking at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on March 17. Drawing inspiration from the classic Victorian era wedding rhyme, she and Roach created a series of looks that mirrored each part of the tradition.
The first look represented ‘something old’. For the Los Angeles premiere, Zendaya stepped out in an ivory silk satin gown from Vivienne Westwood. The dress was not just vintage inspired. It was the same gown she originally wore to the Academy Awards in 2015, marking a full circle fashion moment more than a decade later. The corseted design and off shoulder neckline gave the outfit a classic bridal silhouette.
For ‘something new’, Zendaya appeared at the Paris premiere wearing a custom gown from Louis Vuitton. The elegant dress featured a high neckline, long sleeves and a dramatic black bow that extended into a train. The look was finished with jewellery from David Morris, giving the ensemble a modern couture feel.
The third look fulfilled the ‘something borrowed’ tradition. Zendaya wore a striking black silk gown from Armani Privé that had previously been worn by Cate Blanchett. The architectural silhouette and gemstone detailing made it one of the most dramatic outfits of the tour. Blanchett had previously worn the gown at the 2022 Actors Awards and again at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, making the borrowed moment a notable example of red carpet fashion recycling.
Zendaya concluded the fashion narrative with ‘something blue’ at the New York premiere on April 2. Her final look came from Schiaparelli’s spring 2026 couture collection, first unveiled during Paris Fashion Week. The gown featured a dramatic strapless corseted bodice, drop waist silhouette and peacock blue feather detailing that created a striking finale for the tour.
The bridal theme also echoed Zendaya’s reputation for imaginative press tour styling. In 2024 she used tennis inspired fashion while promoting Challengers, incorporating tennis motifs and athletic aesthetics into her wardrobe.
With The Drama now in cinemas, Zendaya’s press tour has once again highlighted how celebrity fashion can extend storytelling beyond the screen.
