A voice actress behind a popular animated character has revealed a disturbing message from a fan who believes he is romantically involved with the character she voices, raising fresh concerns about online harassment and safety.
The actress, who voices Hazel in The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, part of the long-running The Fairly OddParents franchise, shared a threatening email on her Instagram Story.
In the message, the sender claimed that the “universe” had destined him to be with the character and warned of consequences if she continued to “interfere.”
The email included alarming language, claiming she would face the “universe’s wrath” and urging her to remove any references to the character’s relationships. The sender also suggested she take down certain posts “if you want a peaceful life,” escalating the tone of the message.
Addressing the situation publicly, the actress said that while most fan interactions are harmless, occasional extreme cases do occur. She described the individual as an outlier but acknowledged the seriousness of such behavior.
She also highlighted a broader issue faced by public figures online, noting that blocking users is not always effective. According to her, persistent individuals can create multiple accounts or email addresses to continue harassment, making it difficult to fully prevent contact.
The actress confirmed that she has reported and blocked the individual and plans to take further precautions moving forward, while calling for stronger protections against repeated online harassment.
