Continuous intermittent rainfall in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has severely affected the power distribution network in the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) region, tripping over 100 feeders and leaving thousands of consumers without electricity.

According to PESCO officials, 110 feeders have been successfully restored since Friday. However, fresh spells of rain triggered another wave of disruptions, causing 65 additional feeders to trip once again.

PESCO spokesman said field staff are working tirelessly day and night despite the harsh weather conditions to restore power supply. In areas where it was feasible, electricity has been rerouted through alternative circuits to minimize inconvenience to consumers.

PESCO Chief Akhter Hamid Khan is in constant contact with operation teams and has issued strict directives for the earliest possible restoration of electricity. Additional transformers, wires, and other essential equipment have been provided to field teams to accelerate the repair work.

Officials stated that power supply has been normalized on most feeders. They added that staff have been instructed to strictly follow safety protocols and use safety kits while working in wet and slippery conditions.
