Eva Longoria hypes Kim Kardashian film performance as ‘The Fifth Wheel’ wraps filming
Eva Longoria is building anticipation for the upcoming comedy film The Fifth Wheel, revealing that audiences may be surprised by the comedic performance delivered by Kim Kardashian in the lead role.
Longoria, who directs the film, recently spoke about the project following the completion of its three month production schedule. Filming wrapped in Las Vegas, marking the end of what the filmmaker described as an enjoyable and energetic shoot. The project centres on a group of friends whose trip to Las Vegas takes an unexpected turn when an outsider joins the group and disrupts their plans.
According to Longoria, Kardashian plays a central role in the film’s story and provides much of the humour driving the narrative. The director described the reality television star turned actress as the “anchor” of the movie and praised her comedic instincts throughout the production.
Longoria explained that she has known Kardashian for more than two decades, which helped create a relaxed environment on set. When Longoria took on the directing job, Kardashian reportedly joked that she was relieved someone who understood her sense of humour was leading the project. The director echoed that sentiment, saying Kardashian delivered a performance that highlighted her comedic timing.
The film is positioned as a bold, modern comedy built around a female ensemble cast. Longoria said the movie embraces an unapologetically adult tone while focusing on the dynamic between a group of women navigating an unpredictable weekend adventure. She expressed excitement about audiences eventually seeing the finished product and said she hopes the film contributes to a wider resurgence of female led comedies in Hollywood.
In addition to Kardashian, the cast features several well known comedians and actors. Nikki Glaser, Brenda Song and Fortune Feimster appear alongside Kardashian as part of the core group of friends. The supporting cast also includes Jack Whitehall, Casey Wilson and Scott MacArthur, while comedian and actor Will Ferrell also appears in the film.
The script was written by comedians Janine Brito and Paula Pell, both known for their work in comedy writing and performance. The project has attracted attention due to its mix of stand up comedians, actors and Kardashian’s star power at the centre of the story.
For Kardashian, the film marks one of her most prominent moves into mainstream film acting. While she has built a global profile through reality television and business ventures, she has increasingly taken on scripted acting roles in recent years. She appeared in the television series American Horror Story: Delicate and the legal drama All’s Fair, both created by television producer Ryan Murphy.
Earlier in her career, Kardashian also appeared in films such as Disaster Movie in 2008 and Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor in 2013, directed by Tyler Perry. However, The Fifth Wheel represents a much larger comedic showcase for the star.
Longoria said she is eager for audiences to see Kardashian’s performance once the film is released. The director believes the project highlights a side of the star that many viewers may not expect, particularly her ability to carry a comedy built around friendship, chaos and a wildly unpredictable trip to Las Vegas.
