Dan Levy is opening up about what has brought him comfort following the death of his Schitt’s Creek costar Catherine O’Hara, who died in 2024 at the age of 69.

In a heartfelt conversation, Levy said that leaning on the community of people around him has helped him cope with his grief. “I think the only thing that gives you comfort is connection,” he told People.

Levy recalled how much O’Hara meant to him, describing her as someone who was always generous and warm. He said her influence continues to shape the way he thinks about creativity and kindness.

“I think about how she lived, and how she showed up,” Levy said, reflecting on the late star’s legacy.

O’Hara was beloved for her unforgettable work on Schitt’s Creek, where she played Moira Rose, earning critical acclaim and numerous awards alongside her castmates. Her death was widely mourned by fans and colleagues across the entertainment world.

Levy, who co‑created Schitt’s Creek and starred opposite O’Hara, said that remembering her spirit and humor helps sustain him. “There are moments that are just a reminder of how fortunate we were,” he said.

As Levy continues to honor O’Hara’s memory, he emphasized the importance of the relationships formed during their time working together — and how those bonds have helped him navigate loss in the aftermath of her passing.
