'They all noticed everything': Jacob Tierney praises Heated Rivalry fans for their sharp eye
Tierney noted that viewers even pointed out details he himself didn’t fully realise at the time

Filmmaker Jacob Tierney is giving credit where it’s due — to the passionate and detail-oriented fanbase of Heated Rivalry.
Speaking about the response to the series, Tierney admitted he has been blown away by how closely viewers have been paying attention. “The fans of this show are extraordinary,” he said, adding that their “level of observation” and commitment to rewatching scenes has been “crazy.”
According to Tierney, fans didn’t just watch, they dissected. “At one point there were little things I was like, I wonder if anyone… they did. They all noticed everything,” he shared, noting that viewers have even pointed out details he himself didn’t fully realise at the time.
The director explained that while much of the show’s spirit is intentional, some of the finer details come down to instinct rather than meticulous planning. “So much of it is just trusting your instinct and hoping that you’re rowing in the right direction,” he said, adding that when that instinct works, “things will fall into place".
Interestingly, Tierney also pushed back on the idea that every moment is carefully crafted. He described himself as someone who embraces imperfection rather than chasing precision. “I’m not a perfectionist by nature,” he said, explaining that some moments fans interpret as deliberate were actually accidental. “That was just good luck, that was just very good luck.”
The comments highlight the unique relationship between Heated Rivalry and its audience, where deeply invested fans continue to uncover layers in the storytelling, sometimes even beyond what its creator initially intended.
