A man who previously made headlines for stalking pop star Billie Eilish has died after being struck by a train in New York.
Prenell Rousseau, 30, was killed when a Long Island Rail Road train hit him early in the morning near Westbury on Long Island. Authorities said the incident occurred around 5:38 a.m. while Rousseau was jogging on or near the tracks. Officials have indicated there is no evidence of foul play and believe the collision was accidental.
The tragic incident quickly drew attention because Rousseau had previously been linked to Eilish through a disturbing stalking case several years earlier. In 2020, Rousseau was arrested after repeatedly showing up at the singer’s Los Angeles home without permission.
According to court filings at the time, Rousseau appeared outside the property multiple times over two days. The situation alarmed Eilish and her family, who said his behaviour felt threatening and unpredictable. Eilish later described the experience as frightening in legal documents submitted during the case.
The singer was granted a restraining order after the incidents, which barred Rousseau from contacting her or approaching her home. The order remained in place for several years following his arrest for trespassing.
Reports say that on the morning of the accident, Rousseau was near the tracks east of the Westbury station when a westbound train struck him. Emergency responders arrived at the scene but he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The collision also caused disruption for commuters travelling on the line. Around 100 passengers on the train were transferred to another service so they could continue their journey.
Eilish has not publicly commented on Rousseau’s death. The singer has dealt with multiple stalking incidents over the years, something she has previously spoken about as a frightening reality of global fame.
