Megan Thee Stallion has shared details of rescuing a dog from a high-intake shelter shortly before it was due to be euthanised, prompting widespread reaction from fans online.
The rapper posted a video on March 28, explaining how she adopted the dog after learning about so-called kill shelters, where animals may be put down if they are not rehomed within a set timeframe. Such decisions are often linked to overcrowding, limited resources or health and behavioural concerns.
In the video, she said, “Guys, I've rescued a dog! Because I was yesterday year's old when I found out that there's such a thing as a kill shelter! And they are putting down dogs when they cannot find them a home! That is insane! They were going to put him down yesterday. And I thought, 'No way! Just give him to me! I'll take him!'”

Holding the animal, she said, “Oh! My little son! He's so happy! So yeah, we're going to see how Tyga does tonight. I don't know what kind of dog this is. But he's my son! He's my new son!”
She also referenced her other pets, adding, “I don't know how 4oe is going to feel about this. I don't know how his kids are going to feel about this. But we had to save him. And his name is Tyga!”
Fans responded with emotional messages in the comments. One wrote, “Imagine getting adopted BY MEGAN THEE STALLION! Like sir, do you know who your mother is?!” Another added, “Imagine being a dog on death row. A pitbull no less. The least likely to get help. And MEGAN THEE STALLION steps in to get you.”
Animal welfare organisation PETA also commented, “The overcrowded shelters aren’t the problem—breeders and people who buy dogs instead of adopting are fueling the overpopulation crisis. Wishing you many happy years together!”
