Britney Spears has addressed fans publicly for the first time following her recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in California.

The singer returned to social media on March 27, posting a video on Instagram in which she appeared dancing alongside her 19-year-old son, Jayden Federline.

In the caption accompanying the video, Spears wrote, “Thank you, guys, for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing,” followed by, “Stay kind !!!”

The post comes after Spears was taken into custody earlier in the month. According to authorities, she was arrested on March 4 on suspicion of “driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol.”

A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol stated that a black BMW 430i was reported for erratic driving at high speed on the southbound US-101 at approximately 8:48 p.m.

Officers located the vehicle near Westlake Boulevard and initiated a stop. The spokesperson said, “The solo occupant, Ms Spears, showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests. Ms Spears was subsequently arrested for a violation of California Vehicle Code section 23152(g), driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.”

Spears was booked at around 3 a.m. and released a few hours later at approximately 6 a.m. under a cite and release process. She is scheduled to appear at Ventura County Superior Court on May 4.

A representative for Spears previously stated that her family would be spending time with her and working on a plan focused on her well-being, describing the incident as “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.”
