The UK version of Saturday Night Live is continuing its sharp political satire, with its “Weekend Update” segment taking aim at the mixed messaging surrounding US–Iran deal talks.

During the latest episode of SNL UK, the segment poked fun at conflicting statements coming from Donald Trump and Iranian officials regarding a potential agreement to end the ongoing conflict.

Opening the bit, the anchor joked about the back-and-forth nature of the negotiations, quipping: “Oh my God, just kiss already!”, framing the situation as an almost absurd will-they-won’t-they dynamic.

“While Trump has been insisting that Iran wants a deal so badly, an Iranian military spokesperson has said, quote, ‘Our first and last word from the very first day has been, is and will remain: Someone like us will never come to terms with someone like you. Not now and not ever'. Oh my God, just kiss already!”

The joke highlighted the confusion surrounding the talks, as both sides have sent inconsistent signals about whether progress is actually being made toward a deal. The sketch leaned into that uncertainty, using humour to underline the apparent disconnect between public statements and diplomatic reality.

Weekend Update, a long-running satirical news segment within the SNL franchise, is known for blending current events with punchlines that exaggerate political tensions for comedic effect.
