Attendees at Barbie Dream Fest in Fort Lauderdale have voiced widespread dissatisfaction, with many comparing the event to the widely criticised Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience.

The festival, organised by Mattel and held from March 27 to 29, was promoted as a large-scale celebration of the Barbie brand, promising immersive attractions including an interactive Dream House, roller disco and themed installations. However, visitors reported that the reality did not match expectations set by marketing materials.

Images circulating online show minimal set design, including a simple façade of a pink house on a largely empty concrete floor and a small roller-skating area surrounded by barriers. Attendees also highlighted limited décor, loosely organised vendor stalls and a basic bike course marked with cones.
