Sadie Sink has been confirmed to play Jean Grey in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot, marking her entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following her recent casting in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The casting was confirmed by The Hot Mic’s Jeff Sneider after months of speculation linking the Stranger Things actor to the iconic X-Men character.

Sink’s involvement signals a significant addition to Marvel’s plans for reintroducing the X-Men on the big screen.

The reboot will be directed by Jake Schreier, who is attached to the project following his work on Thunderbolts.

The screenplay is being written by Michael Lesslie, whose previous credits include Assassin’s Creed and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

While Marvel has not officially announced a full cast, several names have been linked to the project. Reports suggest Jack Champion is being considered for Cyclops, Julia Butters for Kitty Pryde, and Margaret Qualley for Rogue. These casting discussions remain unconfirmed by the studio.

The upcoming film represents the X-Men’s return to cinemas under Marvel Studios after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019. The previous X-Men film series concluded with Dark Phoenix in 2019, following a run that included multiple sequels and spin-offs.

Sink is expected to debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026. Her appearance is likely to introduce the character ahead of the standalone X-Men reboot.

Production details for the new X-Men film have not yet been officially announced. However, reports suggest filming could begin in late 2026 or early 2027, with a potential release targeted for 2028.
