A duty civil judge, Aftab Ahmed, granted bail to a newlywed bride who was arrested for aerial firing during her wedding procession.
She was released from Central Jail Adiala on Friday evening.
Following her release, the groom, accompanied by his father and wedding party, brought her home in a celebratory procession. A valima ceremony is scheduled to be held on Saturday.
The groom, who had fled after the bride's arrest, later appeared before Additional District and Sessions Judge Basit Aleem at the Tehsil Court Complex in Gujar Khan along with his lawyers.
Upon surrender, the court granted him interim bail until April 9 and directed police not to arrest him during this period. He was also ordered to submit a surety bond of Rs50,000 and join the investigation.
Meanwhile, Duty Civil Judge Aftab Ahmed approved the bride's bail against a surety bond of Rs50,000, ruling that the charges were bailable.
Police at Mandrah station in Gujar Khan had registered the case on March 26 under the Punjab Arms (Amendment) Ordinance 2015. All charges were bailable.
The bride, Sana Shabbir, wife of Shehryar Ali, allegedly fired a 30-bore pistol in celebration after her marriage. A wedding guest discreetly informed the police and provided video evidence, prompting a raid.
The groom managed to escape, but the bride, still in wedding attire, was arrested. A pistol and bullets were recovered from her possession.
