Police recruits protest prolonged waiting list
.

More than 421 young men and women from Peshawar district who appeared for interviews for police jobs in 2024 have launched a strong protest against being kept on a prolonged waiting list by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police Department.
The protesting candidates, led by Tanveer Ahmed son of Ghulam Farooq, a resident of Mian Gujjar, and others, gathered at the Peshawar Press Club on Friday and raised serious concerns over the delay in their appointments.
Addressing the press conference, the candidates said that they had applied under the ETEA test for 3,200 posts in the police in 2024. As many as 15,000 youths from Peshawar district had applied. Around 5,000 candidates cleared the physical test, followed by a written test in which 99 candidates from Peshawar district qualified. They then underwent qualifying tests, psychological evaluation, and interviews.
According to the protesters, the police department's selection committee prepared a final merit list of 520 candidates and issued them appointment letters. However, out of these 520 selected candidates, only 93 were called for medical examination and subsequently appointed to the posts.
The successful candidates who cleared all stages of the recruitment process complained that they have been waiting for jobs for the past two years.
