PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government on Saturday announced May 26-29 (Tuesday to Friday) as public holidays across the province on the occasion of Eidul Azha, according to a notification.

“All offices, educational institutions, and businesses observing public holidays will remain closed on the notified dates,” the notification said.

KPA day earlier, Sindh also announced four holidays, while the federal government had announced only three holidays on the occasion, from May 26-28 (Tuesday to Thursday).

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee had previously announced that the moon of Zilhajj 1447 AH had been sighted in the country, adding that Eidul Azha would be observed on May 27.

Putting a damper on the happiness of the occasion, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on May 21 warned that a heatwave was likely to grip large parts of the country during the Eid holidays, with temperatures expected to rise significantly above normal in several regions.
