Netflix has offered fans an early glimpse at its highly anticipated drama series Kennedy, revealing Michael Fassbender as Joe Kennedy Sr. in a behind-the-scenes image from the production. Alongside Fassbender, Laura Donnelly will portray Rose Kennedy, while Nick Robinson, Joshuah Melnick, Lydia Peckham, and Saura Lightfoot-Leon take on the roles of Joe Jr., Jack, Rosemary, and Kick Kennedy, respectively.
The streamer has also announced 13 new recurring cast members, rounding out a star-studded ensemble that brings the Kennedy dynasty to life. Georgina Bitmead joins as Eunice Kennedy, Miley Locke plays the younger Kick Kennedy, and Tipper Seifert-Cleveland takes on younger Rosemary Kennedy. Hera Hilmar appears as Danish journalist Inga Arvad, while Wyatt Russell will portray legendary aviator Charles Lindbergh. Patrick Fischler plays influential journalist Arthur Krock, and Caitlin FitzGerald embodies writer and socialite Clare Boothe Luce.
The series will also explore global figures connected to the Kennedy era, with Louis Landau as Billy Cavendish, Robin Soans as Neville Chamberlain, Denis O’Hare as Raymond Furness, Albert Welling as Winston Churchill, Toby Huss as Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Eddie Marsan as J. Edgar Hoover. The additions expand the historical scope of the series, blending the intimate family drama with the political and social currents of the 1930s and 1940s.
Based on Fredrik Logevall’s book JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956, the first season promises to chart the rise of Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine children, including a rebellious Jack Kennedy struggling to step out of the shadow of his older brother. Showrunner Sam Shaw, alongside executive producers Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Kaitlin Dahill, Eric Roth, and Logevall, will guide the series through its eight-episode first season, currently filming in London with director Thomas Vinterberg at the helm.
