Cillian Murphy’s off-camera moment shocks Peaky Blinders extra
A background actor from Peaky Blinders has shared new behind-the-scenes details about filming the franchise’s latest movie, offering insight into Cillian Murphy’s off-camera personality and the production’s attention to detail.
Adam Crolla, who worked as an extra on Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, opened up about his experience in an interview with Betway. He described filming large-scale scenes alongside Murphy’s iconic character, Tommy Shelby, noting that extras were often given simple directions, such as reacting with fear during intense sequences like a boxing match scene.
Despite Murphy’s reputation for staying deeply in character during takes, Crolla revealed a lighter side during rehearsals. Speaking to Betway, he recalled a moment where the actor mimicked a gun using his fingers and shouted “bang, bang,” offering a humorous contrast to his otherwise serious on-screen presence.
The film continues the story set in 1920s Birmingham, following Tommy Shelby as he is drawn out of retirement to protect his son, Duke Shelby, played by Barry Keoghan. The plot introduces a high-stakes narrative involving a Nazi threat, expanding the show’s historical scope.
Crolla also praised the production design, calling the set “incredible.” He highlighted that even the smallest details—such as period-accurate coins and authentic fight tickets—helped create a deeply immersive environment.
Released in select cinemas in March, The Immortal Man marks a turning point for the Shelby family storyline, concluding major arcs while setting up a new era led by Duke Shelby.
