Chris Evans is officially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, confirming his involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Marvel has just added serious weight to its biggest upcoming film.

Evans has revealed that he will begin work on the next Avengers project in the coming months, signaling his role in the Multiverse Saga’s final chapter. While he has not specified which character he will play, his return has immediately sparked speculation among fans.

The confirmation comes via audio shared by user Jessica Zborowski, in which Evans can be heard saying: “I start work on the next one in a couple of months, so I'm in the next one. There's that.”

The most likely outcome is that Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers, though the MCU’s multiverse leaves room for alternate versions, or even a surprise comeback as Johnny Storm from his pre-MCU days.

Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to serve as a defining moment for Marvel Studios, potentially reshaping the franchise through a soft reboot while bringing together heroes from across timelines and universes.

Even if Evans’ role is limited, his involvement highlights the scale Marvel is aiming for, as the studio builds toward what could be its most ambitious crossover yet.

The film is scheduled to release on December 17, 2027.
