Damson Idris to lead ‘The Lord’s Day’ TV adaptation at Netflix

Damson Idris stars in The Lord's Day, a Netflix thriller about a British spy trapped in a Parliament siege

Damson Idris has been cast in the lead role for The Lord’s Day, an upcoming Netflix thriller series based on Michael Dobbs’ 2007 novel.

Idris will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

The six-episode series follows British spy Harry Jones, portrayed by Idris, who finds himself inside the iconic Palace of Westminster during the State Opening of Parliament. As a siege unfolds, Jones must navigate a lockdown where loyalties are tested and sacrifices are made, leading to a desperate fight for survival. The official logline teases that not everyone will emerge alive, raising the stakes for the spy to use his training to become the country’s savior.

The Lord’s Day is produced by Bad Wolf, the production company known for acclaimed series such as Industry and His Dark Materials. Executive producers include Jane Tranter and Dan McCulloch for Bad Wolf, alongside lead writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley and director Ben Chanan. The series is set to enter production soon in the United Kingdom.

Idris, best known for his starring role in the FX crime drama Snowfall, continues to expand his television and film portfolio. His addition as both lead actor and executive producer signals a significant creative investment in the project.

With a compelling premise rooted in political intrigue and high-stakes action, The Lord’s Day adds to Netflix’s growing slate of British-produced thrillers. Further casting details and a premiere date will be announced as production moves forward.
