Savannah Guthrie is pushing back against online rumors suggesting her family may have been involved in the disappearance of her mother, calling the speculation “cruel” and deeply painful.

In her first major interview since the case gained national attention, the Today co-anchor addressed the claims head-on, expressing disbelief at the accusations directed toward her loved ones. According to People, Guthrie said she hopes “people of good heart and compassion” will stop spreading what she described as irresponsible speculation.

The rumours suggested that members of her own family could have played a role in the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, claims Guthrie strongly rejected. She emphasised that there are “no words” to describe how hurtful such insinuations have been.

Authorities have also cleared the family of any involvement, confirming they are not considered suspects in the case.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 at her home in Tucson, Arizona, and investigators believe she was abducted. Evidence at the scene, including signs of a struggle and missing surveillance equipment, has pointed to foul play.

As the investigation continues, Guthrie and her family remain focused on finding answers and bringing her mother home. They have offered a $1 million reward for information and continue to urge the public to come forward with any credible leads.

The emotional interview underscores the toll the case has taken on the family, as Guthrie continues to navigate both public scrutiny and personal grief while the search for her mother remains ongoing.
