Eric Kripke says The Boys finale won’t have Game of Thrones-scale battles

Eric Kripke says The Boys will favor character clashes over big battles due to budget limits

The creator of The Boys, Eric Kripke, has revealed that the show’s fifth and final season won’t feature massive, cinematic battle scenes, simply because it doesn’t have the budget to match epics like Game of Thrones.

Speaking about the upcoming season, Kripke explained that while fans shouldn’t expect large-scale war sequences, the story will still deliver intense, direct confrontations between key characters.

The final chapter is set in a darker world dominated by Homelander, with the resistance struggling to regroup as several core members are captured.

Despite its massive popularity and strong viewership on Amazon Prime Video, Kripke emphasized that the series is focusing more on emotional payoff and character-driven clashes rather than expensive spectacle.

He added that while the scale may be smaller, the impact is intended to feel just as powerful, and possibly more personal.

Season 5, which premieres on April 8, will bring the story to a close, though the franchise is expected to continue with spin-offs like Vought Rising and further seasons of Gen V.
