In a bid to cope with acute fiscal and financial pressures, the Health Department has abolished 2,115 permanent posts of medical officers at DHQs as well as at 27 THQs.
No further permanent recruitment will be made against these posts.
Instead of a regular service structure - which offered job security, pensions and promotional pathways - the department has approved the creation of 2,115 new lump-sum contractual posts.
