Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is facing criticism after appearing in a TikTok video that referenced the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in a joking manner.
The clip, part of a viral “we listen, we don’t judge” trend, shows Blanchard making a gesture and remark alluding to the crime for which she served more than eight years in prison.

The video quickly sparked backlash online, with many social media users accusing her of making light of a serious and tragic event.
Blanchard was released in December 2023 after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the case, which involved her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, who is serving a life sentence.
The latest video has drawn strong reactions, with critics questioning the appropriateness of joking about the incident despite the widely known abuse Blanchard endured growing up.
