The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced a revised schedule for the 11th edition of the HBL PSL following the adoption of austerity measures in consultation with the government and in line with officially announced national resource conservation initiatives.

In a statement issued today, the PCB said the number of host venues for HBL PSL 11 has been reduced from six to two. All matches will now be staged in Lahore and Karachi.

“In the updated schedule, 44 matches will take place over 39 days, with Lahore and Karachi each hosting 22 matches. The opening match between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars remains unchanged, while Lahore will also host Eliminator 1, Eliminator 2, and the final. The Qualifier will be played in Karachi,” the statement added.

The PCB further stated that HBL PSL will introduce enhanced broadcast and production features as the tournament temporarily shifts to a watch-from-home model, aimed at delivering an even stronger viewing experience for fans across Pakistan and around the world.

“The league remains confident that the passion of its audience, combined with innovation in coverage, will make this edition one of the most widely watched in its history,” the statement said.

The PCB release noted that while prioritizing national stability is essential, the absence of crowds in stadiums will be deeply felt. It was estimated that with an average of 30,000 spectators and associated support staff traveling daily for more than a month, the tournament would place significant strain on energy resources.

“By limiting the tournament to two cities, the HBL PSL is also reducing extensive operational arrangements, including transport and utility overheads, that a six-city event demands,” said the PCB.

The board further stated that HBL PSL remains committed to delivering high-quality cricket while aligning with national priorities. The league will proceed with the same unity, discipline, and excellence that have made it a defining symbol of Pakistan’s sporting strength.

Earlier, addressing a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that the PSL will commence on March 26 but will be held without spectators due to the ongoing security situation.

He said the decision was taken after days of consultations, including with the government and security agencies, adding, “All matters regarding the PSL have been discussed in coordination with the government.”

He noted uncertainty surrounding the current situation, adding that it was not clear how long the crisis would continue. “When the crowd will not be allowed in stadiums, there is no need to take matches to multiple cities,” he said.
