Same name indie games launch conflict resolved by Steam in wholesome way

Two independent video games sharing the same title, Piece by Piece, launched on Steam within days of each other in March 2026, prompting potential confusion among players and developers. However, the situation was resolved through a collaboration between the teams involved.
The first game, developed and self-published by Neon Polygons, was released on March 11. It is described as a “literal puzzle platformer”, where players rearrange jigsaw-like level pieces during gameplay.
Shortly after, on March 13, a separate game with the same name was released by developer Gamkat. This version focuses on a narrative-driven experience centred around running a repair shop as a fox character.
The overlap in naming raised concerns for Neon Polygons, particularly as Gamkat’s title had the backing of publisher No More Robots.
According to developer Chase_P, both teams had announced their release dates around the same time, without awareness of the naming conflict.
Rather than escalating the issue, Neon Polygons contacted No More Robots to propose a joint solution. The result was a discounted Steam bundle featuring both titles, allowing players to purchase them together.
Chase_P stated, “We announced our release date at practically the same time for two days apart….with the same name,” and later added, “I made back what I put into the game in the first 24 hours.”
Mike Rose of No More Robots responded positively to the proposal, noting, “‘This sounds like fun,’” and later commented, “It’s crazy to think that if you act like human beings about a situation, it somehow ends up great??”
The collaboration has been cited by developers as a constructive resolution to a potentially disruptive situation, with both games benefiting from increased visibility.
