ABC has announced what viewers will see in place of the highly anticipated The Bachelorette season that was abruptly removed from the network’s schedule just days before its planned premiere. The decision comes after ABC abruptly scrapped the upcoming season featuring Taylor Frankie Paul amid controversy tied to domestic violence allegations involving her and her ex‑boyfriend.

Originally slated to debut on March 22, 2026, the new season of The Bachelorette was pulled just three days before its premiere following the public resurfacing of a disturbing 2023 video showing Paul in a domestic altercation. In response, ABC said it would not move forward with airing the season and would focus on “supporting the family.”

To fill the now‑open timeslot, ABC will broadcast a rerun of American Idol Season 24, Episode 8, featuring guest mentors Keke Palmer and Brad Paisley. The rerun will occupy the Sunday evening slot that had been reserved for The Bachelorette.

The network’s decision to pull the show is unprecedented in the history of the franchise, as a full season — already filmed and promoted — was removed entirely just days before airing. A spokesperson for Disney Entertainment Television reiterated that the choice was made in light of recent developments and concerns about the situation’s impact.

Paul, a reality star from Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, expressed her gratitude for ABC’s support in a statement amid the controversy and said she’s focusing on her family’s safety and wellbeing. Her ex‑partner, Dakota Mortensen, responded independently by denying her allegations and saying his priority remains their son’s welfare.

At this time, ABC has not announced plans for when The Bachelorette will return to air with a future season or new lead, leaving fans and the franchise in a state of uncertainty.
