Mckenna Grace is set to portray Daphne in the upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo: Origins, bringing a fresh take to the beloved mystery franchise on Netflix.

Grace, known for her performances in Gifted, I, Tonya, and Young Sheldon, previously voiced Daphne in the animated film Scoob!. The new series marks her transition into playing the character in a live-action format for the first time.

Speaking on the red carpet at the Academy Awards, Grace expressed her enthusiasm for the role, revealing that Daphne has long been her favorite character. She shared that she dressed as Daphne multiple times for Halloween and plans to revisit past Scooby-Doo content to prepare for the role.

The series, titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, will explore the early days of the iconic mystery-solving group. According to the official logline, the story follows Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp, where they become involved in a supernatural mystery tied to a lost Great Dane puppy. Alongside Velma and Freddy, the group must uncover secrets linked to a possible murder case.

Grace’s real-life partner, Mason Thames, who has been the subject of fan casting discussions, confirmed he will not be portraying Shaggy in the series.

The upcoming Netflix project aims to reintroduce the classic Scooby-Doo characters to a new generation while expanding on their origins in a darker, mystery-driven narrative.
